SEVENTH FAMILY DAY
Sunday, September 4, 2011
at the terrain of the Kynologischen Verein Fricktal

(Fotos Roland Kleiner)

The numeral 7 seems to be the lucky number for the Continental Bulldog Club Schweiz,
because also the 7th Family Day was a complete success - as again
somewhere around 80 persons and 40 Contis were present.
And St. Peter too kept the rain drains off at least until the close
of the official part towards 14h00 .

Welcome Adress by the President

I will help you if you don't
remember how to continue, Pickwick Alysha
 seems to tell her master

Also the dogs listen attentively to the president's words

and meanwhile also take in the course prepared for them

The Course offered the following tests for the teams - (1 Team = Dog/Leader)
1. "Das Schätzamt"
(max. 20 points)

The leader had to indicate the weight of his dog.
Thereafter the dog was weighed and for each 100 g of difference 2 points were deducted from the total.

No, it can't be that I weigh so much!!!!

2. "Wäscheklammer-Slalom"
Points to be won for the Slalom max.49 and for each breed recognised on the bottles two additional points

The dog was attached on a short string to the trouser leg of the leader with a clothes-peg and the Team had to do a Slalom of 7 plastic bottles. The string had to stay fixed. On the bottles there were pictures of seven dog breeds. At the end of the Slalom the leader was asked to indicate the breeds without having been informed of that task beforehand.

To make it more difficult "busicuits" were deposited on the bottles,
which the dogs were not allowed to eat.

well done, Clowy!

also the almost 10 years old Pickwick Lily Chic joined in

3. "Büchsenschiessen"
Punkte-Gewinn max. 10

This was to test the skill of the leader as he had to throw a ball into the tins that were positioned very close together and were marked with numbers 1 to 10. The tin that was hit gave the number of points won.

4. "Hula Hoop"

the dog had to sit still. The leader put Hula Hoop-Rings one after the other over the dog. When all rings were used up, the could be lifted off the dog again. 30 Seconds were allowed in total and for each ring moved a point could be gained.

The dialog here: Hey, attention please! Yes, mother.

5. "Königslauf"
Max. 20 points

A Balloon decorated with a crown had to be carried under, over and around a total of five obstacles, while the dog had to walk along on a loose lead. For each obstacle 2 Points could be won and if the crown was brought back without having once fallen off, an additional 5 points could be obtained.

None to small to join in, quite unimpressed to little
Puppy (4 Months) surmounted the obstacles

also a Non-Conti can be part of it

you are almost an athlete,Bongo seems to say to hismaster

hei, balancing this crown is not so easy

hopefully the crown survives this jump

6. "Wir kennen doch unsere Pappenheimer"

Three parallel tracks were established. The dog had to sit approx.1 Meter in front of them, while the leader indicated which track the dog would take, when he called him to the other side also approx. 1 Meter behind them. If the assumption of the leader was correct he got 5 Points.

with flying ears...

7."Answering three Riddles"
Punkte-Gewinn max. 6

Welche Flocken fallen nicht vom Himmel? - Hafer- /Hunde-Flocken

a bag of biscuits

INTERESTED PARTIES CAN OBTAIN THE DOCKET OF THEIR DOGS FROM THE SECRETARIATE.

After the distribution of the prices which took place between Lunch and Desserts prepared by
and offered again from Imelda Angehrn, leisure time was being called for
each in his own manner:

mhm, the earring tastes real good....

while Lily-Chic takes her well-earned nap,

the "bon-vivant" stretches in the grass

We too have a lot to laugh about, haven't we!

SIXTH FAMILY DAY
Sunday September 19, 2010
on the grounds of the Kynologischen Verein Fricktal

On a wonderful autumn day, our president, Hannes Zaugg-Graf, could welcome again some 80 participants
and relay greetings and wishes from the president of the Swiss Kennel Club (SKG) as well as those of the president of
SKG's Breed Council.

Bevor the start of the fun contest for dogs the two oldest participating dogs
and the two youngest were presented with the SKG knapsack

Pickwick Lily Chic - 8 3/4J (in the back)
Pickwick Yorick - 7 1/2 J (in front)

and the two litter siblings - 6 months -

Pickwick Why Wilson (left) and Pickwick White Gloves (right)

The five Posts were created by Nadja Kleiner und Jeannette Gübeli
and had to be coped with by five groups of six dogs each individuallay mixed.

The Posts were
:

Rope Jumping with Dog during one Minute - (each jump counts one point)
An that's how it is done - Demonstration by Nadja Kleiner mit Clowy v. Acheberg -

and the "Athletes" in action

Ordering the dog to walk over obstacles - First a jump, then walking over a panel of corrugated iron
and over a piece of lorry cover and afterwards underneath a pole with fluttering ribbons
(there is no limit to the ways of luring!!) - Here a maximum of 4 points could be gained

"Hiding" - the dog handler sits on a chair and hides underneath a blancket
the he calls his dog once - if the dog gets there within 60 seconds he
gets the maximum points of 5

"Sniffing noses" - a number of specially preparated boxes lay on the ground -
in just one of them is a piece of rumen. Each dog in the group is led along the boxes
and he snuffles on all of them. When all are through, the group has to decide which box
contains the rumen. The correct answer is rewarded with 10 points

Tennis-Bingo - the Fortune Game. The tennis balls hanging from the pole are numbered 1 to 9.
The dog is ordered forwarded and the first ball he touches with his nose is the number that counts

actually I am not inclined to do that.....

but afterwards the proud expression - well how have I managed this easy game?!

Attentive Watching the colleagues of the same group - are they doing the right things!

On preparing the score list it was found out that Group 2 (Wurstrugelis) and
Group 4 (Schnarchnasen) reached the same result of 109 points for which reason
one member of each group hat to joss the dice for the 2nd resp. 3rd place

The dice player in group 4 threw a four and thus
PLACE 2

Each dog was offered a large bag of goodies
together with the SKG knapsack

In group 2 the dice rolled to a 1 and thus it was
PLACE 3 for them

The third placed of also a large bag of
goodies and a chewing stick

Winner with 115 Points was Group 5 (Flitzpiepen)
and besides the bag of cookies each dog also got a dog toy

Hearty Congratulations

but also the other participating dogs were offered a token -
in the form of a small bag of goodies:

Here the Results of each group in the individual games
Rope Jumping Obstacles Hiding Sniffing Noses Tennis Bingo TOTAL

in the pause between the very tasty lunch cooked by the KVF's team and the dessert buffet

with a Dogdance performance and at the end waved good-bye
in a very chaming manner

Bye, bye till next year!

The Continental Bulldog at the Fair
HUND'2010
from February 5- 7, 2010 at the Eulach-Hallen, Winterthur.
Once more our Contis participated in this Fair in Winterthur and again with the result that the exertion was warranted by the great numer of people at our stand and during the presentation of our breed in the demonstration ring. This was proof of the interest in our breed.

Fifth Family Day
Sunday, September 6, 2009
on the terrain of the Kynologischer Verein Fricktal, 5072 Oeschgen

A splendid Sunday in every respect -
Nearly a hundred members and friends of our Conti and more than 50 dogs were welcomed by our president Hannes Zaugg-Graf
on the ideal terrain of the Kynologischer Verein Fricktal (KVF).

The atmosphere was excellent from the beginning to the end - the magnificent autumn weather, the competition course and last but not least the excellent food prepared by the competent kitchen team pf the KVF have of course contirubted highly to the fact that a joyful mood prevailed throughout the whole day and that the newcomers felt very much at ease within the Conti-Family.

Attentive Listeners to the instructions about the order of play given by the
master of event, Nadja Kleiner, who had prepared five interesting posts
